In this process, the thickness of the non-conductive layers of paint and rubber coatings on the metal containers and pipes of the refrigeration machine is determined, any deviations indicating corrosion. If corrosion is visible on heat transfer elements and pipes or if cavitation due to pressure fluctuations is suspected, locations with material loss can be located by means of wall thickness measurement.
